When it comes to create a WordPress theme it is easier is you have a bare bones theme framework to act as a skeleton for the newly created design, this will make easier the process and save you a lot of time.

I used to work on the default WordPress theme because it is constantly updated and the templates are basically what you need, but sometimes you require more that what the Default theme can bring so i decided to put together a blank theme frame work to improve my workflow, and i will put it here for you to download and use it in your projects.
